Breaking Containment

I grew up near the sea, and my whole life has been shaped by the calm I feel beside it—especially in the moments when I need release, when I need quiet in any form.

Breaking Containment comes from that place. It’s the feeling of standing close to the water and letting it take what you can’t carry anymore. The turquoise isn’t just a colour to me—it’s a breath, a threshold, a kind of permission. The gestures push and spill because that’s how release happens: not politely, not slowly, but truthfully.

This painting holds both things at once—the pressure and the serenity. The storm and the stillness. It’s my way of finding tranquillity through movement, and of bringing the ocean’s presence into a space: a reminder that calm isn’t the absence of intensity—sometimes it’s what intensity becomes when you finally let it go.
